PH Education Team – Reporting Covid-19 Cases |
Audience : all schools In light of recent outbreaks and the emergence of new variants, it is vital that positive cases of coronavirus within school communities are reported to NY Public Health (staff and students) – even if there are no contacts in school. The easiest and most efficient way of doing this is via email; education.COVID19@northyorks.gov.uk The team can quickly triage cases and get in touch for further information or to give advice if required. Please refresh messages about continuing with bi-weekly LFD testing – for all those who signed up, it has proven to be an extremely effective method of avoiding asymptomatic infectious individuals from attending education settings. |

Audience : All schools Please help spread the word about Hidden Harm The North Yorkshire Safeguarding Children’s Partnership (NYSCP) recently launched a campaign about spotting signs of Hidden Harm – the campaign is aimed at both professionals and members of the public, especially those in job roles that are public facing, who may notice things that are unusual. Read more here. We would be grateful if you could share the ‘Hidden Harm’ campaign with colleagues in school, and with parents and carers via your usual communication channels. NYSCP have produced a podcast for anyone wanting to know more about Hidden Harm – you can listen here. Below is some suggested wording for social media posts and a precis to drop in to a newsletter, whatsapp group or similar. Please click the links to download images sized for social media. School Term and Holiday Dates 2022-23 |
Audience : All schools Please find below a copy of the calendar of school term and holiday dates for 2022/23 which has been agreed by Executive Members on 26 May 2021.
NYCC Final School Term Dates 2022-23.pdf (northyorks.gov.uk)
The calendar will also be published on the NYCC website. It applies to all community and voluntary controlled schools, including special schools, pupil referral units and maintained nursery schools in North Yorkshire. It is hoped that for consistency across North Yorkshire all schools will adopt the same dates. The Consultation was sent to all headteachers, trade unions and teacher association representatives and local authorities across Yorkshire and the North East. Thank you to everyone who took the time to submit a response. Your comments informed the outcome of the consultation. As in previous years, the Authority has set three of the five PD days available to schools. The purpose of setting three PD days is to achieve efficiencies by way of transport costs as well as maintaining some consistency for pupils and parents. We recognise that we are not able to direct schools regarding the timing of training days, but we hope that you will co-operate and ask that you adhere to the three training days identified on the agreed calendar. The responsibility for identifying the remaining two training days is delegated to the Governing Bodies of schools. It is important that the dates of the remaining training days are available for reference by colleagues in the Children and Young People’s Service and therefore I should be grateful if you would let the Education Office in Harrogate have details of these as soon as they have been decided. Please note your returns should be forwarded to the school welfare team, email: schoolwelfare@northyorks.gov.uk or telephone: 01609 533405.
I would also bring to your attention your responsibility in respect of the Education (School Day and School Year) (England) Regulations 1999. The regulations are clear and schools must ensure that at least 380 sessions (190 days) are held during any school year. Should you have any queries please contact me direct. |
