Information, updates and guidance |
Audience: All schools Cascade: Headteachers We are aware that at this time of year there are a number of activities planned in schools. COVID-19 cases are high in the community so we would urge you to be cautious in your approach to activities. However, we know that many of these activities are important part of the educational experience for your pupils and in some cases for the financial health of your school. To allow you to organise activities as safely as possible we have put together some guidance. This is based around the NYCC Event Guidance that all event organisers are expected to comply with. The guidance can be used for any activity ranging from plays, fairs and sporting events both organised by the school or other bodies e.g. PTA. This should enable you to make comprehensive risk assessments for each activity. This guidance should be used in conjunction with the Public Health COVID-19 advice for educational settings which you are already using. Please ensure that you prioritise and only go ahead with the activities most important to you. Remember to risk assess the impact on your school if staff members attending contract COVID-19. Regardless of this guidance and your risk assessments, if you have live cases in your school (primary) /year group (secondary) or local community cases are high then activities are not advised and you need to be prepared to cancel at short notice.
